Bobby Khan’s Plan to Protect Influencers and Content Creators
Fighting for Digital Fairness, Free Speech, and Economic Stability
The digital economy has created millions of jobs for influencers, content creators, and online entrepreneurs. Yet, there are no protections for these individuals when platforms unfairly remove their content, ban their accounts, or withhold their earnings. Social media is the new economy, and it’s time our laws catch up.
I am fighting to ensure that influencers, content creators, and digital entrepreneurs have the same protections as any other business owner.
The Problem
- Social media platforms can ban or demonetize creators overnight with no explanation or accountability.
- Influencers lose years of work and income instantly when accounts are shut down unfairly.
- No clear appeal process—creators are often left with no way to fight back.
- Many legal content creators face discrimination in their personal and professional lives.
- Financial restrictions prevent creators from using banks, getting loans, or even hiring basic business services.
My Plan to Fix It
- Transparency & Fairness in Content Moderation
- Platforms must provide clear guidelines so creators know what is allowed.
- Creators must receive specific explanations for bans or demonetization. No more vague excuses.
- A fair appeal process must exist, ensuring a real human review—not just an algorithm.
- Protecting Legal Content Creators from Discrimination
- Employers, schools, and organizations cannot fire, expel, or discriminate against influencers for legal online content.
- If it’s legal, it shouldn’t cost someone their job, education, or rights.
- Protecting Influencers’ Income & Digital Property
- Creators must be paid their earned revenue—even if banned from a platform.
- Platforms cannot seize a creator’s earnings without due process.
- Creators should own their audience and content, with the ability to transfer followers if they switch platforms.
- Strengthening Free Speech & Preventing Viewpoint Discrimination
- No more banning or throttling content based on personal or political beliefs.
- If content is legal, it should not be removed just because a platform disagrees with the opinion.
- Creators should have the right to appeal any content takedown.
- Fighting Harassment & Doxxing of Influencers
- Doxxing (publicly exposing private information) must be illegal, with strict penalties for offenders.
- Online harassment protections must extend to influencers, especially those facing threats.
- “Swatting” and targeted harassment of creators should be treated as serious crimes.
The Benefits of This Plan
- Protects jobs and businesses in the digital economy.
- Encourages innovation and entrepreneurship in content creation.
- Prevents unfair censorship and political bias in social media.
- Gives creators financial security in an industry that depends on platform stability.
- Fosters free speech and protects individual rights.
The Bottom Line: We Need Fairness for Digital Entrepreneurs
Influencers are small business owners and deserve the same protections as any other industry.
If you can’t shut down a brick-and-mortar business without cause, you shouldn’t be able to shut down an influencer’s account without due process.
Social media companies should not have unchecked power over people’s livelihoods.
It’s time to bring fairness, accountability, and free speech protections to the digital world.
