Bobby Khan’s Plan to Legalize Marijuana Nationwide
Ending Federal Prohibition, Boosting the Economy, and Freeing Americans from Outdated Laws
Marijuana prohibition is outdated, hypocritical, and harmful to both the economy and everyday Americans. While countless states like Nevada, Colorado, and California have legalized cannabis for medical and recreational use, federal law still classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug—the same category as heroin and LSD.
This creates huge problems for business owners, banks, law enforcement, and individuals who simply want to operate legally. It’s time for the federal government to catch up with reality.
I’m fighting for full federal legalization of marijuana—because it’s not just about freedom, it’s about economic growth, criminal justice reform, and fairness for Americans.
Why We Need Federal Marijuana Legalization
- Federal Law Is Outdated & Contradicts the Will of the People
- As of 2024, 38 states have legalized medical marijuana, and 24 have legalized recreational use.
- Over 70% of Americans support legalization.
- The government has no right to override the will of the people in states where marijuana is already legal.
- Legal Businesses Are Forced to Operate in Cash – Making Them a Target
- Because marijuana is illegal under federal law, cannabis businesses:
- Cannot use FDIC-insured banks.
- Cannot get business loans.
- Cannot process credit card payments.
- Cannot even hire armored trucks that are FDIC-insured to transport money.
- This means these legal businesses are forced to operate in all cash—making them prime targets for robbery, theft, and crime.
- Legalization would allow banks to work with cannabis companies and make transactions safer and more secure.
- Because marijuana is illegal under federal law, cannabis businesses:
- Legalization Will Boost the Economy & Create Jobs
- The cannabis industry is already worth over $30 billion and is expected to grow to $75 billion by 2030—if the federal government gets out of the way.
- A nationwide legal cannabis industry could create over 1 million jobs in cultivation, retail, logistics, marketing, and security.
- The government would generate billions in tax revenue—which could be used for schools, infrastructure, and public services.
- End the Hypocrisy – Alcohol & Tobacco Are Legal, But Marijuana Isn’t?
- Alcohol and tobacco kill hundreds of thousands of Americans every year.
- Marijuana has never been directly linked to an overdose death.
- If booze and cigarettes are legal, why is the federal government still targeting marijuana?
- Free Americans Locked Up for Marijuana Offenses
- Tens of thousands of Americans are rotting in prison for marijuana charges—while states are profiting off legal sales.
- We need to release nonviolent marijuana offenders and expunge their records—so they can get jobs, support their families, and live normal lives.
- It makes no sense to keep people in jail for something that is now legal in half the country.
- End the Probation & Parole Restrictions on Marijuana
- Right now, thousands of Americans are sent back to prison for using legal marijuana while on probation or parole.
- This is ridiculous. If someone is allowed to drink alcohol while on probation, they should be allowed to use legal marijuana.
- Law Enforcement Should Focus on REAL Crime
- Every year, over 500,000 Americans are arrested for marijuana-related offenses.
- This wastes law enforcement time and taxpayer money on something that shouldn’t even be a crime.
- Police should be focusing on violent crime, fentanyl trafficking, and real threats to public safety—not arresting someone for a joint.
The Plan: How We Legalize Marijuana at the Federal Level
- Remove Marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act
- Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I drug—the same category as heroin.
- I will push to completely remove it from the Controlled Substances Act, making it fully legal at the federal level.
- Pass a Federal Law Protecting State-Legal Marijuana Businesses
- Even in states where marijuana is legal, federal law still punishes banks, landlords, and service providers who work with cannabis businesses.
- I will push for a federal law guaranteeing legal protections for marijuana businesses in legal states—so they can bank, get loans, and operate like normal businesses.
- Expunge Marijuana Convictions & Release Nonviolent Offenders
- Anyone in prison for a nonviolent marijuana offense should be released immediately.
- I will push for automatic expungement of marijuana-related criminal records.
- This will help millions of Americans get jobs, housing, and a second chance.
- Allow Veterans & Medical Patients to Access Marijuana Without Restrictions
- Many veterans rely on marijuana for PTSD, chronic pain, and mental health—but VA doctors can’t prescribe it.
- Medical marijuana patients in legal states still face barriers in housing, employment, and federal programs.
- I will fight to allow veterans and all Americans to access medical cannabis without federal interference.
- Tax Cannabis Like Alcohol & Tobacco – Fund Public Programs
- A federal marijuana tax—similar to alcohol and tobacco—could generate billions in revenue.
- This tax revenue could be used for:
- Funding schools & education.
- Improving infrastructure.
- Helping veterans and mental health programs.
- Prevent Big Pharma & Corporations from Taking Over the Industry
- Big Pharma and corporations want to control the cannabis industry, limiting access and crushing small businesses.
- I will fight to keep the industry open for small businesses, independent growers, and local dispensaries.
- No corporate monopoly on marijuana—this should be a free market, not another industry controlled by elites.
The Bottom Line: Legalize It Now
- Legal marijuana will boost the economy, create jobs, and reduce crime.
- Cannabis businesses should be allowed to bank and operate like normal businesses.
- No more arrests, probation violations, or prison sentences for marijuana.
- Law enforcement should focus on real crime—not harmless marijuana use.
- Veterans and medical patients should have unrestricted access.
This isn’t about politics—it’s about common sense.
It’s time for the federal government to step aside and let the American people decide.
