Bobby Khan’s Plan for Criminal Justice Reform & Economic Growth
Bringing Manufacturing Back, Reducing Recidivism, and Giving Second Chances
The American justice system is designed to punish, not rehabilitate. With 80 million Americans holding criminal records and an 87% recidivism rate, our country is trapping people in a cycle of incarceration instead of giving them opportunities to rebuild their lives. The system is broken – but I have a plan that not only fixes it but also strengthens our economy.
By bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. and giving non-violent prisoners jobs while incarcerated, we can reduce crime, lower recidivism, boost our economy, and help struggling American families—all while saving taxpayers billions.
The Problems We Face Today
- Mass Incarceration Without Rehabilitation:
- Our prisons warehouse non-violent offenders without giving them skills or opportunities to change their future.
- Upon release, ex-prisoners are banned from jobs, housing, and financial opportunities, forcing them back into crime just to survive.
- 87% Recidivism Rate – A Revolving Door of Failure:
- The system isn’t designed to rehabilitate, it’s designed to keep people coming back.
- Parole, probation, and post-release restrictions make it nearly impossible to live a normal life after serving time.
- 80+ Million Americans with Criminal Records Are Treated as Second-Class Citizens:
- Felons can’t vote, own businesses, rent homes, or work in certain industries.
- Banks, landlords, and employers discriminate against anyone with a record, creating generational poverty and crime.
- America Has Lost Manufacturing and Jobs to Other Countries:
- We rely too much on China and other nations for goods we should be making ourselves.
- Corporations don’t build in the U.S. anymore because of high labor costs, taxes, and regulations.
Bobby Khan’s Plan to Fix It
- Bringing Manufacturing Back to America Through Prison Labor Reform
- Incentivize corporations to bring factories and production jobs back to the U.S.
- Non-violent prisoners will be offered jobs at these factories at minimum wage.
- Corporations won’t have to pay employee taxes, insurance, or benefits for incarcerated workers because they are in government custody.
- This creates a cost-effective labor force that lowers production costs and makes U.S. manufacturing competitive again.
- Giving Prisoners the Ability to Earn & Support Their Families
- Non-violent offenders will be paid minimum wage for their work, allowing them to:
- Save money to start fresh upon release.
- Support their families instead of being a financial burden.
- Buy basic needs while incarcerated instead of relying on family members to send money.
- When prisoners leave, they will already have work experience with the company, giving them first dibs on full-time jobs after release.
- Ending Parole and Probation – You Do the Time, You Get Your Life Back
- Parole and probation are traps designed to increase recidivism by keeping people under government control.
- If you’ve served your full sentence, you should be free. No probation officers. No restrictions. No harassment.
- Full Restoration of Rights Upon Release
- No more lifetime punishment. Once you’ve done your time, you get:
- The right to vote.
- The right to own a gun.
- The right to work in any industry.
- The right to rent or buy a home.
- The right to get business and occupational licenses.
- A record should not define you for life. People who have paid their debt deserve the same rights and opportunities as anyone else.
- Making America Stronger by Investing in Its People
- 80+ million Americans with criminal records will have real opportunities to build businesses, careers, and better futures.
- With jobs and financial security, fewer people will turn to crime, lowering the crime rate and making communities safer.
- Taxpayers save billions by reducing incarceration rates and eliminating costly post-release restrictions.
- More skilled workers and job opportunities lead to a stronger economy, more local investment, and a self-sufficient America.
The Benefits of This Plan
- Restores opportunity for 80+ million Americans trapped in a broken system.
- Lowers recidivism by giving former prisoners jobs, skills, and financial stability.
- Brings manufacturing back to the U.S., making us stronger and less dependent on foreign nations.
- Reduces crime by giving people a path to success instead of forcing them back into illegal activity.
- Saves taxpayers billions by lowering prison costs and eliminating the parole/probation trap.
- Strengthens the U.S. economy by creating more businesses, job opportunities, and self-sufficiency.
The Bottom Line: It’s Time for Real Reform
- We can’t keep punishing people for life after they’ve done their time.
- We can’t keep letting corporations send jobs overseas when we have willing workers here at home.
- We can’t keep allowing government agencies to profit off of people’s misery.
- It’s time to give second chances, create jobs, and strengthen America.
I am fighting to end mass incarceration, stop lifetime punishment, bring jobs back to America, and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
You do the time, you get your life back. Period.
